February Vehicle Spotlight- Escape
Ford pulled out all the stops to redesign its best-selling SUV, releasing a showstopping fourth-generation Escape that brings enough smart features and model configurations to impress any buyer. Five trim levels (S, SE, hybrid-only SE Sport, SEL and Titanium) and four powertrains give you a variety of choices. The Escape’s base powerplant, a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-three-cylinder, produces 181 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque.
This re-vamped release contains a variety of features:
The 2020 Escape has been redesigned and fitted with the right features to get you through your busy schedule. It features standard second-row 60/40 split-fold seats and an all-new sliding feature for more cargo space. Plus, the redesigned interior offers best-in-class second-row legroom. New for 2020, the rotary gear shift dial frees up more space than traditional gear shift knobs. Also, thanks to the available hands-free, foot-activated liftgate, there’s no need to fumble for keys. With the available Intelligent Access key in your pocket or purse, just kick your foot under the bumper and the liftgate opens.
Standard on Titanium, Active Park Assist 2.0 takes parallel or perpendicular parking to an automatic level. Once the feature is engaged by pushing the Active Park Assist button, the system will detect an appropriate parallel or perpendicular parking spot. When the system identifies a parking spot, it will prompt you to come to a complete stop, shift to Neutral, release the brake pedal and hold the Active Park Assist button down; the vehicle does the rest. All steering, shifting, brake and accelerator controls are performed by the system. The system can do the same actions for exiting a parallel parking spot as well!
The new Escape offers a wide range of available technologies to help keep you aware of your surroundings and ever-changing traffic conditions. Introducing Ford Co-Pilot360— an advanced suite of standard driver-assist technologies that includes BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Auto High-Beam Headlamps, Lane-Keeping System and Rear View Camera. From the driveway to the highway, standard Ford Co-Pilot360 has you covered.
Pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking helps keep you and your passengers safe. If the system’s sensors detect a potential collision with a car or pedestrian in front of you, a warning flashes and audible alert sounds. Also, the brakes will precharge and increase brake-assist sensitivity to provide full responsiveness when you do brake. If you do not take corrective action and a collision is imminent, the brakes can automatically apply. Also, available head-up display and SYNC 3 software help keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.
The completely redesigned Escape was built for a life in motion. From the spacious new interior to the sleek, head-turning lines of the exterior, it was built for adventure on the road and a lifestyle on the go. Redesigned with sportier lines that give it a premium feel, the attention-grabbing new Escape will change the way you look at every other SUV.
The available Panoramic Vista Roof® features a large forward panel that tilts up or opens fully, plus a fixed rear skylight. So whether you’re sitting up front or in back, the Panoramic Vista Roof lets in the natural light.
The new second-row 60/40 split-fold seats are one of our favourite features on the Escape. Fold both rear seats back for a flat load surface that offers up to 65.4 cu. ft. (1,852 litres) of total cargo space, or fold down either of the standard 60/40 split rear seats back and still save room for a passenger. The second-row rear seats also feature a new sliding function, allowing for greater ease of use when loading up cargo. If you’re carrying items such as luggage, leave both seat backs up and you’ll have 34 cu. ft. (962 litres) of cargo space101 or best-in-class second-row legroom.
